Paediatric First Aid Training
Ofqual-regulated paediatric first aid qualifications for those working with infants and children. Meets Ofsted and Early Years Foundation Stage requirements.
Why paediatric first aid matters
Children and infants require a different approach to first aid. Their anatomy, physiology, and the emergencies they are most likely to experience differ significantly from adults — and the response must reflect that.
Our paediatric first aid courses are designed to give those working with children the knowledge and confidence to respond effectively in an emergency. Both qualifications are Ofqual-regulated and meet the requirements of Ofsted and the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
Regulatory requirements
EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage)
At least one person with a full Paediatric First Aid certificate must be on the premises and available at all times when children are present in an EYFS setting.
Ofsted registered childminders
Childminders registered with Ofsted must hold a current paediatric first aid certificate. Emergency Paediatric First Aid (EPFA) meets this requirement.
Certificate renewal
Both qualifications must be renewed every three years. Lapsed certificates require a full course rather than a refresher.
